Hi, I’m Joshua.
I was a trained journalist before 2020 when I moved to Javea, Spain, to work freelance and raise a family.

Google Business Profile is perfect for something called ‘local search’. A local search is when someone searches for a product or service and a location (e.g. ‘mechanic near me’ or ‘estate agent in Estepona’). Google automatically alters its results page to show a Google Maps result with three featured businesses, and that’s where your Google Business Profile will appear. If you have a physical business location, or you sell products or services to a localised geographical area, you’re a good fit for Google Business Profile. If you sell products or services to a purely online audience then Google Business Profile may not be a good fit.
Will I genuinely get new customers from my Google Business Profile?
Your success depends on two things: 1. The number of monthly searches for your products or services in your area; 2. Getting your business to appear in the top 3 results on Google. The challenge will give you everything you need to appear in the top 3 results on Google. But I can’t promise you’ll get customers, because I don’t know if people are actively searching for what you sell. However, if you’d like to be sure, you can request a free SEO analysis and discover the volume of relevant monthly searches in your area.
What if I have huge competition – will I still get new customers?
There are certain industries, like real estate in popular towns in Spain, that very difficult to rank in 1st place on Google Maps for. What if I serve businesses in 2 or more languages? Will the GBP 5-Day Challenge help me?
Yes. Many of my SEO clients in Spain serve customers in both English and Spanish. However, it’s easier to rank your business profile in 1st place on Google for just one target language, rather than two. My recommendation is to focus on the language that most of your customers use. Otherwise, you may get only mediocre results.
What if I haven’t set up my Google Business Profile yet?
No problem. The first step of the GBP 7-Day Challenge walks you through the process of actually claiming your profile on Google. If you have a profile, you can skip this section. Otherwise you can use one of Google’s new verification methods (phone call, SMS or video upload) to verify your profile almost instantly.
What if I don’t even have a website?
No problem. Your Google Business Profile doesn’t need a website. It can help. But it’s not necessary.
